Certificate Tracking using RFID

Certificates constitute one of the most important and valuable assets for a university or an educational institution. They are the hallmark of one’s sustained struggle for long periods of time. They also contribute in the development of career for numerous people around the world. Hence it is the prime responsibility to safeguard the certificates from piracy.
Now-a-days, the certificates are being duplicated and used for a number of purposes. The conventional methods of authenticating certificates like using holograms on certificates are rendered ineffective. Thus, a better and effective technology is required to minimize the misuse of certificates.

All the certificates that are issued at a particular institution or university are affixed or embedded with RFID Tags which contain the unique id of the certificate. When the user at the other end (institute/university/organization) wants to check the authenticity of the certificate, he captures the certificate id from the tag affixed/embedded to the certificate, with the RFID reader and enters the id to the software on the host system. On entering the certificate id, the software communicates with database of the university and displays all the details corresponding to that id
