Vehicle tracking with Active RFID

Active rfid or battery assisted RFID tags are used in Toll management and identifying vehicles for parking applications. Active RFID tags are usually called semipassive or semi active RFID tags as the tags get powered when they receive a wake up signal from the reader and transfer the data. This is advantageous to save battery life on the tag.

Unlike wifi tags which constantly need battery source to be connected constantly, the active RFID tags can last for 5 to 10 years depending on their usage.
