Supply chain has two ends....manufacturer and the consumer. Depending on the product life cycle the customer relationship lasts for a few minutes in the case of a bottle of pepsi/coke to few decades in the case of a car. Uniquely identifying the product/consumer who bought it can start from the manufacturing stage to the delivery and further during maintenance of it during its usage.

To retain a customer and enjoy customer loyalty, the manufacturer has to maintain an umbellical chord relationship.

RFID cards can be used as customer loyalty cards and track the consumer every time he gets in contact with the enterprise.
